4-Week Secondary School Program Residential

Applications for Summer 2025 open on December 2.

Spend 4 weeks living on the historic, picturesque Harvard campus located in Cambridge, Massachusetts. As a Harvard student for your 4-week summer session, you’ll get a student ID which will be your pass to use the libraries, athletic facilities, student centers and access the dorm you’ll be living in with fellow students.

Your Classes

The 4-Week Secondary School Program (SSP) is an immersive, for-credit experience offered in a residential only format. You will choose one accelerated course from our approximately 20 4-Week course offerings. Students benefit from small classes with guest speakers who will bring subjects such as business, medicine, or journalism to life.

All 4-week classes are small to encourage engagement between students and instructors.

  • Enroll in one, 4-credit course.
  • Classes are for-credit, graded college courses.
  • Students in the 4-Week program will be in class 2.5 hours per day, 4 days/week.
  • All 4-Week courses are offered in-person on campus.

Life on Campus

You will live just like a Harvard student in the Harvard College dorms or undergraduate Houses and have a meal plan for the dining hall. Students have access to Harvard Athletics Facilities, Libraries, and other academic resources during the summer.

Proctors, who are nearly all Harvard College students, will get to know residential students by hosting various residential meetings and activities to promote community, can connect you to academic resources, and participate in on-call rotations in case of emergencies. Resident Deans support the proctors and oversee residential life on campus. Learn more about our residential staff.

Attend Signature Harvard Summer School Activities

4-Week SSP Residential students can participate in a broad range of social and college readiness activities while they’re on campus. You will have a rigorous, full-time courseload; however, your schedule will have room to fill with activities such as College Counseling Q&As or off-campus excursions. Make the most of living in New England and among a group of driven peers like you by going out and having some fun.
