Funding

Harvard College students

The Mignone Center for Career Success (MCS) offers funding for a limited number of admitted and eligible Harvard College students. If you are a Harvard College student, you will be asked on your Harvard Summer School study abroad application if you would like to be considered for funding. Funding selection is by lottery, and award amounts vary by program and financial aid status. MCS funding awards are tied to a specific program, and cannot be transferred to another program.

If you opt in to be considered for funding, you agree to allow MCS to obtain your financial aid status from the Harvard College Griffin Financial Aid Office.  If you have questions about MCS funding for Harvard Summer School Study Abroad Programs, email summerfunding@fas.harvard.edu.

Other Harvard offices, departments, and centers may also offer funding to Harvard College students for Harvard Summer School Study Aboard Programs. Search CARAT for potential funding sources.

Be sure also to review the Harvard College Griffin Financial Aid Office summer school page for information about loan assistance.

Students at other schools

Students enrolled at other institutions should consult their financial aid offices. Assistance for students at other Harvard University schools may be available through the financial aid offices of the individual schools.

Harvard University staff

Harvard’s Tuition Assistance Plan (TAP) does not cover tuition for study abroad programs. To utilize your TAP benefits, consider taking a three- or seven-week Summer School course

Program Cancellations

Note: In the event of program cancellation prior to the program start date, the Summer School will refund any payments you have made toward the program cost, not including airfare, textbooks, visa application fees, and other expenses incurred separate from the program fee. In planning for your travel, we encourage you to consider purchasing refundable airline tickets and/or travel insurance.

Tuition Payments

Harvard Summer School Student Financial Services will email you when billing information is available to view in your MyDCE account after you have been registered into your courses.

Payment in full of your program tuition fee is due by April 9. No advance deposit is required. To submit a payment, log in to your MyDCE account and select “Financial Services” from the home page. On the homepage of the finance portal, click on the green “Make Payment” button. Follow the steps to complete your payment.  After you pay, you will be sent a confirmation email. Please see the Study Abroad Costs & Funding page for more information.

If you are a Harvard College student who is receiving an award from MCS, note that your award will be automatically transferred to the Summer School.
